About the Guide
The Guide is a flexible tool designed to allow a school to adapt its resources and tools to meet its particular needs or capacities. For an idea of its comprehensive and systematic approach, study the Guide Contents page.
• Chapter 1: Background information that all Asthma Support Team members should read to gain a better understanding of the program and the problem it aims to address. Some of the topics covered include asthma basics, urban living, air quality, and team building.
• Chapters 2-5: Information for the administration and the custodial staff (Chap. 2), the teaching staff (Chap. 3), the Parent Coordinator, parent association or parent-teacher association (PA/PTA) (Chap. 4), and the medical staff (Chap. 5). Each staff chapter begins with a list of suggested program steps and ends with a list of available resource materials.
• Chapter 6: Photocopiable and reference resources named in Chapters 2-5. There is also a Glossary of relevant terms.
